Laminate flooring, floating parquet, glue-down parquet,
solid parquet, modern parquet or antique parquet… In recent years, we have seen a strong comeback
for parquet flooring. It has everything to make a house pleasant. However, it
is important to take care of your parquet floor and to maintain it with the
right products so that it keeps its beauty.
PARQUET:
BROOM OR HOOVER?
The first
question you ask yourself when you have a parquet floor? It is to know how to
maintain it! Indeed, it is much more fragile than tiles, and a scratch can
happen quickly.
The first step in cleaning your floor is to remove the dust. This will prevent a stone chip from scratching the wood. To do this, you can use a broom or hoover in brush mode to be as gentle as possible. And to leave a fresh scent after vacuuming, don’t forget to use the Purifyer for vacuum cleaner.
CAN I MOP
MY FLOOR?
To complete the maintenance of the floor, it is of course possible to clean it. But be careful, some precautions are necessary.
First of all, you must not use bleach or any other stripping product. This type of product would attack your floor and its varnish and would therefore make it more vulnerable. It is recommended that you clean your floor with a little Etamine du Lys Organic Soft Soap, rich in olive oil and organic linseed oil.
Another point to watch is not to drown the wood. The mop used, or even better the microfiber, must be well wrung out so that the floor dries very quickly. Capt’Hygiène’s special microfibre floor cloth can be used to thoroughly clean all types of floor. Advantage for parquet: this ecological microfibre ensures ultra-fast drying.
STEAM MOP
AND PARQUET: CAUTION, DANGER
And above
all, beware of the steam mop! Do not use it on floating, glued or nailed parquet.
On glued parquet, it is better to use it sparingly. The only type of parquet
that can withstand steam cleaning is laminate parquet, which only has the
appearance of wood. To avoid making mistakes, it is best to forget about using
a steam mop to clean your parquet!
Do you have old parquet, waxed parquet or raw parquet? Once it has been thoroughly cleaned, don’t forget to nourish and protect it with Etamine du Lys Liquid Beeswax. Without silicone or colorant, this ecological polish penetrates perfectly leaving a satin finish. Your floor will thank you!
